Jag ger fingret tillbaks till Cash. Jag trodde han hade lagt av där ser man, han har en bra röst plus att han skrev bra låtar för. Då måste jag kolla in hans skivor igen.
"Johnny Cash has long had a friend and admirer in the Swedish lawyer Olof Arvidsson. Therefore it was natural that they got together in Nashville when Olof Arvidsson in 1972 where there for a juridical assignment. They came to talk about the forthcoming Sweden tour that Johnny Cash was suppose to make the following autumn the same year, and Arvidsson who where specially enchanted in the LP " Johnny Cash at San Quentin " proposed an appearance in one of our Swedish prisons. This Johnny Cash thought was a splendid idea. This developed further on Swedish soil and after some discussions with the the National Prisons and Probation Administration
Österåker prison was decided as it had the best assembly hall. That the concert should be taped for an eventual record release was Johnny Cash´s own idea. He had performed in Sweden before and knew that there was good recording possibilities here.
There where some problems for the prison management when the technicians came with all the cords, but it was solved by drilling some holes through the walls of the assembly hall.
That's the story how Johnny Cash on the 3rd of October 1972 gave a 2 hour free concert for about a hundred Swedish inmates plus guards. The ovations where far from moderate, especially when Cash - as you hear on the record - presented some of the songs in Swedish. The M.C was Olof Arvidsson and Larry Butler who played piano this night produced the recording.
Johnny Cash has performed in prisons since 1956, but this was the first time outside the USA."
