Kanske inte riktigt två-kanal, men det är en nyhet.

TAG McLaren unleashes 10-channel amp!
Following on is the full press release we’ve received from TAG McLaren on their new 10-channel (yup, you read that right: 10 channels) amplifier. Oooh baby…

TAG McLaren presents ten-channel amplifier 100x5R:10
The CEDIA Expo 2002 sees the launch of TAG McLaren’s new 100x5R:10 power amplifier. This new multi-channel amplifier is the same size as the current five-channel amplifier 100x5R but offers up to 10 channels of amplification, courtesy of a newly-developed two-channel 2 x 80 W amplification module.

The 100x5R:10 has been launched in response to requests from owners of TAG McLaren products who requested a convenient addition of channels to expand their 5.1 systems to 7.1 channels or to allow easier use of bi-amplification in their applications.

The 2 x 80 W Modules may be combined with the existing 120W monobloc modules within the 100x5R chassis to provide between 2 and 10 channels of amplification; versions purchased with fewer than 10 channels may be upgraded to add extra channels at a later stage. 1: all power figures given at 8 Ohm load.

All modules in the 100x5R:10 are completely independent, ensuring that heavy demand on one module has no effect on another with each module having its own high-efficiency heatsink and power supply. The 2 x 80 W Modules may be combined with the existing 120W monobloc modules providing between 2 and 10 channels of amplification.

The 100x5R:10 offers full remote control and also features TAG McLaren’s TAGtronic Bus for control of channels/modules by the av processor AV32R.

The control circuitry for the 100x5R:10 is powered by its own small transformer for optimum sound quality and the most efficient energy usage in standby.

The micro-controller in the 100x5R:10 stores its software in re-programmable memory, which can be re-programmed with updated software using a PC suitably connected via the TAGtronic Programming Cable.

Prices
In ten-channel 10 x 80 W form the new 100x5R:10 has a recommended retail price of £4720, while the seven-channel variant, with 3 x 120 W channels for front left, centre and front right and 4 x 80 W channels for the surround left/right and surround back left/right, has a recommended retail price of £3685 - £690 more than the £2995 of the current five-channel amplifier.

Upgrades
The upgrade philosophy for which TAG McLaren have become renowned also extends to the new amplifier. Owners of TAG McLaren five-channel amplifiers can upgrade them to the 100x5R:10 specification by returning the amplifier to TAG McLaren. Details will be announced at a later stage.

The 100x5R:10 will start shipping in October 2002.
