Esoteric C-03 $9500
The input stage of the C-03 features a high quality discrete buffer circuit.
The output stage features a fully discrete output buffer circuit driven by high power voltage (+/- 38V), providing maximum clarity and very high linearity.
The output buffer circuit is coupled with a large capacitor (4,700#956;/ch.) to further support high voltage output.
The C-03 features a high quality, digitally-controlled, analog volume IC for each channel.
The volume control, channel balance control and gain compensation between each input source are aggregated to this IC.
There is no equalizer, record out circuit or other control circuit within the signal path.
The C-03 has 5 line level input selections (RCA x 3, XLR x 2). During line level operation, unused inputs are completely disconnected from the circuit.
This eliminates electrical noise generated by having unused inputs active.
Based on variations in system requirements, an XLR phase invert function (input only) is included.
There are 2 x RCA outputs for biamp configuration and 1 XLR output.

The Meridian Signature Reference 808.2 comes in two flavors: standard and 808.2i. The difference?
The standard Meridian 808.2 provides digital audio outputs in two formats, including an upsampled 88.2 kHz output that exploits Meridian's proprietary MHR resolution-enhancement system when connected via a compatible Meridian DSP Loudspeaker or surround processor.
It also has two sets of analog audio outputs, which can be either fixed- or variable-level.
The 808.2i adds analog and digital audio inputs, so it can function as a basic preamplifier in a simple two-channel system in conjunction with a power amplifier or active Loudspeakers.
