Goldmund introcuces in 2007 a new addition to the Logos family.
Supplementing the renowned Logos Mini and the Logos Sub, the new models achieve even higher output level and quality:
The Logos1 Full-range Monitor and the Logos2 Active Super-Subwoofer.
The Logos1 exists in active and passive versions as well as in special High Efficiency version, the Logos1 HE, especially efficient when coupled with the Logos2.
The active Logos1 version provides digital and analog inputs and uses two built-in Telos generation amplifiers and an active crossover.
This crossover may be by-passed to allow a perfect tuning by software filters adjusted in an associated Universal Preamplifier such as the Mimesis 24 or Mimesis 30.
The Logos1 drivers are a 7" woofer and soft dome tweeter, both selected for their high linearity and high dynamics.
The Logos1 HE uses a hard metal woofer and a high efficiency ribbon tweeter.
The Logos2 subwoofer usues a 12" woofer with long excursion and a passive 12" radiator.
It is available only in active variant, with a 650 W built-in power amplifier and built-in adjustable crossover.
The ideal coupling of a Logos1 and a Logos2 may be achieved by assembling them in the Logos Frame 2.
The bandwidth is then 20Hz-32kHz +/- 3dB, a performance unique in the industry for such a small speaker.
Frequency response: Logos1 : 45 Hz - 25 kHz and Logos1 HE : 55 Hz - 55kHz.
Efficiency : Logos1 : 88 dB/1 W/1m and Logos1 HE : 91 dB/1 W/1 m
Dimensions : 330 mm (13") H x 230 mm (9") W x 280 mm (11"). |

Audio Research HD 220 forsterker - $9000.
The new hybrid drive HD220 stereo power amplifier combines the strengths of two different technologies in a completely new power amplifier due to recent advances in solid-state output devices and other components.
ARC calls it "Hybrid Drive" because the way it works. As in the REF110, a JFET input - for low noise - feeds a 6922 dual triode gain stage, which in turn feeds a 6H30 dual triode cathode follower which drives the output circuit thru ARC's proprietary coupling capacitors (as used in the REF3 preamplifier).
This vacuum tube input / driver arrangement sets the stage for extraordinary musical performance and liveliness, nuance character at the front end of the amplifier.
The output stage is comprised of twelve "Thermal Trak" bipolar output devices per channel, delivering 220WRMS per channel into 8 ohm and a whooping 410 WRMS per channel into 4 ohm.
These new devices have the unique ability to automatically adjust their internal bias in response to operating thermal conditions, thereby assuring extremely consistent output performance no matter how hard the amplifier is pushed.
Low noise fan cooling of the output stages keeps the output devices within their normal operating range. Power supply regulation is all solid state to assure stability and consistency under high current loads.
The power supply energy storage is an amazing 200,000 uF capacitance for explosive dynamics and rock-solid bass impact and control. If you look inside the top cover you are told that the HD220 is all about performance.
The HD220 offers livability as well, with the dual triode front end tubes all running conservatively within their operating range for longer life.
An easy to read meter is included to keep track of the tube hours. This meter in on the circuit board and can be seen thru the top grille. Both balanced and single ended inputs are provided, as well as a detachable 20 Amp IEC connector power cord.
In performance, this amplifier represents the highest level of sonic presentation ARC has yet experienced from any solid state or previous hybrid design.
Its musicality is superb, with a degree of transparency and grain less purity that is nothing short of eerie thanks to extreme low distortion and low noise floor.
Dynamics and bass control are thunderous and well controlled, whether driving dynamic or planar type loudspeakers. In short, the HD220 gives you the finesse and nuance that tube amps are famous for, with the consistency and speaker control under high-current demand conditions that solid state amps excel at.
