Tänkte tipsa om ett par riktigt bra Hip Hop skivor jag fick hem för några dagar sen.
Dead Prez: Turn off the Radio: The Mixtape, Vol. 2: Get Free or Die Tryin'
Inte riktigt lika bra som deras "Lets get free" men det är svårt att alltid ha sån standard. Men den är klart bättre än det mesta man hör på tv/radio. Mycket medvetna texter om problem i samhället. Det är helt klart så här Hip Hop ska va, hårt och medvetet m.a.o. RBG: Revolutionary But Gangsta som deras senaste skiva heter.
Immortal Technique: Revolutionary, Vol. 2
Även denna skiva är mycket politisk och medveten. Kanske även mer hänsynslös än Dead Prez när det kommer till att beskriva det amerikanska samhället och Bush administrationen. Riktigt härlig och omväxlande produktion. Riktigt kul på låten "Freedom of speech" där han driver med refrängen från Pinocchio. Det finns mycket om den amerikanska historian, inte bara om slavarna utan även senare om hur mellanöstern och vad som verkligen ligger bakom konflikterna där. Denna skiva hamnar klart högt på min top tio lista. Nu ska jag bara få tag på hans första "Revolutionary, Vol.1"

Intressant!
Det känns som att den Hip Hop'en man hör på radio eller andra ställen ofta hamnat i någon kommersiell fåra och den känns inte lika intressant som för några år sedan.
Tack för tipsen, de skall jag titta närmare på.

Även om inte HIP-HOP är min stil, så är det kul att läsa en recension, där TEXTEN tas upp.
Ytterst sällan, så tycker jag att den delen av musiken tas på allvar.

fina tips där, särskilt immortal tech tycker jag är riktigt bra (även om han blivit lite väl hypad efter revolutionary vol 2). Dead Prez har precis som mitt Common, mitt första tips, fått lite kritik för halvt rasistiska uttalanden.. Common har i alla fall ett mer "öppet" sinne nu än tidigare, då han var ganska så fundamentalistiskt troende muslim.
Nåväl, då tar jag mig friheten att fortsätta på ditt "medvetna" tema och tipsar om följande:
Common (sense) - Resurrection
med klassiker som "I used to love H.E.R" där Common pratsjunger om hiphopens lite tråkiga utveckling;

Ge nu detta en chans och upptäck lite ny musik. Tänk inte på eminem eller 50 cent och avfärda en hel musikstil just för att det som syns på tv är så smak- och innehållslöst (som så mycket annat på tv  )..
