Goldmund Telos 3500
For those who did not buy the Telos 5000 on time, the new Telos 3500 is THE perfect choice as it inherited most of the Telos 5000 technical qualities and physical attributes. It promises to be the new Goldmund Superstar Amplifier, but let us tell you why:
The looks:
The Telos 3500 looks just like Telos 5000, but measures only 2/3 of its height. It is gorgeously crafted in eloxed aluminum and adorned with gold stripes on the sides and the Goldmund gold plate on the front panel. The purity of its lines only matches that of the materials used in its making. It is by carefully selecting the best raw materials and by collaborating with renowned experts in their treatment that Goldmund can fashion the luxurious and sturdy look that has characterized its products for decades. This is also what makes their unique durability. The construction of the Telos 3500 also features the most exceptional mechanical grounding, similar to that of the T5000 with an extreme rigidity and heavy weight (>100kg).
And the brain:
The Telos 3500 uses the transformers and the capacitors that were specifically developed for the Telos 5000 (even if in a reduced number) in order to provide the same extreme Driver Control
It has also been designed to allow a DSP board option. First introduced with the Telos 350, this option promises exciting possibilities to use the T3500 with Proteus in a multi channel configuration.
It has a digital and an analog input with fixed level (switchable to provide the same sensitivity as the Telos 1000/2500 when set at +9dB position)
It has a new circuit topology to cancel the ground loops if connected in analog, avoiding the serious buzz generated by usual unbalanced amplifiers when the star grounding is not properly made.
It offers all the safeties of the 2500/1000/600/350 for a foolproof operation
It uses an Alize 6 D/A circuit in order to have the same latency as the other main amplifiers in the Goldmund line and be easily mixed with the T1000/T2500/T350 (or even the Telos 600 if upgraded to the Alize6).
Like for the Telos 350, the power of the Telos 3500 is not announced but you may guess it is between the Telos 2500 and 5000#8230;As a brainchild of the Telos 5000, it has the capacity to drive anything existing, in any possible configuration.

ELECTROCOMPANIET RECEIVES 3 TAS GOLDEN EAR AWARDS AND CREATES A NEW GOLDEN EAR CATEGORY.
Electrocompaniet received 3 of the coveted 2010 Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award's and got the award in a completely new category "Best System" by Jim Hannon.
Instead of giving out 3 different Golden Ear Awards TAS felt that a Golden Ear award for Best System Combination was the way to go.

The design of the "Liberty" is a breakthrough in classic speaker cabinet box type building. Like it's big brother "The Sammy" it's new construction utilizes many layers of alternating lobs precision cut by a CNC router.
It's ultra solid construction and round anechoic design creates almost a perfect "no box loss" cabinet.
The speaker has better sound in all categories except overall volume than the famous, much larger Models.
It is very small for it's abilities and would be perfect for someone interested in reference sound in a smaller package. |

Background
There are not very many 2-channel preamps in the world which support both balanced and single-ended inputs and outputs. There are even fewer that sound very good. Our intention is to provide a line level control unit which is simple, but not too simple; can be used anywhere in the world with no adjustments; and is musically transparent. It has enough features to be useful but not a lot of extraneous functions which no one ever actually uses.
Implementation
The NBS Universal Preamplifier uses absolutely state-of-the art monolithic circuits throughout. Modern engineering combined with advanced semiconductor processes allow performance which cannot realistically be achieved in discrete-component designs. High quality 4-layer circuit boards allow control of signal routing and grounding which cannot be achieved in hand-wired designs. The volume control function and all switching are performed electronically resulting in perfect volume control tracking and nothing to wear out or become noisy. The only mechanical contacts in the signal path are the input and output connectors. This is not a "retro" product. We respect history but we do not worship it.
The power supply design is similar to, but on a much smaller scale than, the power supply system of the NBS Universal Power Amplifier. It is power-factor-corrected. This means that the harmonic distortion of the mains current drawn by the unit is very low. This results in less coupled noise between mains circuits and signal circuits. Further, the unit may simply be plugged in anywhere in the world without any voltage adjustment.
The housing is entirely of machined aluminum like other NBS electronic products. The power system is housed separately from the audio. The status of the volume and input selection is indicated with LEDs. The brightness of the LEDs is automatically reduced in a dark room.
The sound of the preamp is completely neutral and transparent to the input signal. The music is conveyed completely with as high quality as the recording allows. There is not much else to say about it.

Sixty Five pounds of silence. Encased in ¼" solid copper, the phono pre amplifier is universal in several ways:
First, you can plug it in anywhere in the world with no adjustments. It has a universal AC mains input with power factor correction.
Second, you can use any pickup..from the lowest output moving-coil to the highest output moving-magnet type.
The solid copper chassis provides exceptional shielding and grounding. A generous grounding post is provided adjacent to the inputs. Not only that, the copper enclosure is also beautiful to look at.
The moving-coil input and the moving-magnet input can be connected simultaneously and selected from the front panel. Low and High moving coil gain can be selected from the front panel as can moving coil loading.
The input selector also has a Mute position for noisy operations like cleaning the stylus or making connections to the inputs.
Balanced and unbalanced outputs are provided and both can be used simultaneously.
For the serious LP connoisseur the proof is in the listening. This pre amp reveals your LP collection in a way that makes you want to rediscover it. This is due to a signal-to-noise ratio and signal headroom which greatly exceed what the disc and pickup can deliver. The pre amp will never be a limiting factor. Further, the accuracy of the RIAA equalisation is unmatched by any preamplifier of which we are aware. The equalization is true RIAA without the IEC low frequency rolloff. Turntables appropriate for use with the NBS preamp do not require it and the low frequency reproduction is much better without it.
Also, the so-called "Neumann" stop in the de-emphasis is not present. This prevents the output of ultrasonic "junk" and generally improves the clean quality of the signal
